A red and gray patterned plaid shirt, jeans, and headphones in his ears – this is the Jared Sokoloff aesthetic. Perhaps he was listening to a Springsteen classic or a Rush tune, two of his favorite musical talents.
This senior Radio/TV/Film Communications studies major tells me about his busy weekend, as he not only acted in WIRED, TCNJ’s 24 Hour Play Competition, but also helped oversee the filming of the event, as he serves as one of All College Theater’s prime camera men. Sokoloff also helps oversee all WTSR Underground shoots, another event on his agenda this weekend that he had to attend to.
If you’ve watched Kendallarious, The Weekly What, or Kendall Live you’ve seen the work of entertainment guru as he serves as the Executive Producer for all of Lion’s Television’s Entertainment shows. He tells me how when he first came to TCNJ, LTV had less than 10 members, and how him and his friends worked exceptionally hard to increase membership to around 50 students currently, with seven shows being offered.
Sokoloff, when he’s not working on something for LTV, enjoys listening to music, playing guitar, or participating in TCNJ’s Manhunt Club. He has even written music and TV reviews for both Smash Cut Reviews and The Signal. Also, he served as The Student Center’s (R.I.P to the pre-construction STUD) Student Manager for three years, making sure all events ran smoothly and commandeering the setups and cleanups.
As this senior prepares for graduation in May, he admits he’s in denial. “I’m at that point where I’m ready to move on with my life, but there’s so much I love about this school.” The College has always had a friendly atmosphere for Sokoloff. “It’s always been a kind of down to earth place to me,” he says, and appreciates how unpretentious the campus is.
But what’s next for Sokoloff? He tells me that his greatest career aspiration would be to produce a comedy show with all of his friends. Hopefully, some of his LTV buds can get in on this too — let’s hope so!
