Gaga’s New Single Lacks New Sound

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

Lady Gaga: “Born This Way”

Whether you love or hate Lady Gaga, there is no escaping her sound. Her songs creep into your ears and slowly make their way into your brain and stay there for the sake of tormenting you.

The only difference between her previous songs, which launched her fame, and the current single “Born This Way,” is that it seems less catchy.

The beginning of the new single has a typical trance/dance-type beat, which leaves a lot to the imagination. It seems that the possibilities could be endless with this beat, but Gaga sounds like she’s competing with it.

The lyrics encourage you to love yourself regardless of sexual preference or orientation, but the droning dance mix dilutes the emotional message.

You’ll want to dance to the upbeat, funky rhythym of “Born This Way,” but you probably won’t remember the lyrics.

Although the new single topped the Billboard, it is definitely not one of Gaga’s best songs, but the rest of the album might redeem her.
