Fall Into Fabulous Colors

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

As you’re dressing to walk around campus, shop or even decorate your college dorm, be weary of 2012’s hottest fall colors. Ironically, the fall fashion colors range from bright and vibrant to neutral and soft, just like the majestic leaves that fall on the paths to class here at TCNJ.

This season’s colors were inspired and portrayed during New York fashion week by famous fashion designers around the world. From the runway to your closet, these colors will continue on into the winter season! Therefore, as you dress to keep up with the latest trends, keep a watchful eye out for the following shades.

1) Tangerine Tango to a Burnt Orange

These oranges are not quite as vibrant as the oranges of the past, but they are a bit softer and a dustier orange that are sharp and edgy when paired with black accessories. Below are designer Michael Kors and Salvatore Ferragamo’s lines. (insert photos)

2) Rhapsody to Eggplant Purple

These two colors are formed from the same shade of purple, yet one is soft and one is dark. Both are a deeper purple though, different from bright purple and lavender. These colors have been “lipstick hits” for many years and have finally made it to the runway. Kelly Osbourne wears the lighter shade not only in her hair but in her dress at the Emmy’s (insert photo).

3) Olympian, Royal Blue

This blue has been slowly becoming more popular with every season but definitely hit the nail on the head this fall. It was said to have dominated on the runway during fashion week. Great for every skin and hair color, royal blue is shown in Salvatore Ferragmo’s line. (insert photos)

4) Ultramarine Green, Deep Teal

In rich textures like velvet, crepe silk and satin, an inky, deep teal is a lovely option for a night out or for cute skirts to flaunt around campus. Below is an example of the color by Sonia Rykiel. (insert photo)

5) Rose Smoke, Nude

This romantic color is a great neutral to match up with any color from black and grey to white. It’s a soft, sophisticated “pink” as opposed to the brighter in your face hot pinks of the past. It keeps fall fashion classy. (insert photo)

7) Minty Green

The mint green is a summer color that is traveling over to the fall season. Like rose smoke, it’s a nice neutral, calm color that looks good with everything. It’s clean and refreshing and rocked the runway and Hollywood stars. (insert photos)

Among the biggest colors of the season are a few other shades that will suit your best outfits this fall! The following pallet displays and describes fall fashion colors. “By playing to consumers’ practical side with versatile neutrals, and boosting their confidence with bold, spirited hues, this skillfully balanced palette has something for everyone.” — Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
