Birthday Boy Gary Kehoe, ’13

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCNJ chapter.

This campus cutie can win you over with a song or his athleticism.  Senior Gary Kehoe is known for his flannel shirts, love for the outdoors and his musical talents. You can find him in the Rat during a Student Soloist Night or working out at the Rec Center with the crew team.  Either way, this cutie is single and ready to mingle.  Snatch him up before someone else does and give this cutie the best birthday present ever!

Name: Gary Kehoe

Age: 22

Hometown: Freehold Township, NJ

Major: English Major, Professional Writing Minor

Year: Senior

Campus Involvement: Former President (lifelong fan!) of TCNJ Crew, Campus Engagement Intern with Dean of Students Office, Intern with “The Wall”, lead singer/guitarist for the legendary “Magic Rats”

Hobbies: Guitar; triathlons; rowing; summer lifeguarding at Avon beach; hanging with friends

What you do on a typical Saturday night:  “Saturday night, you’ll find me somewhere with a beer in my hand. If it’s a good night, I’ll have one in the other hand too; if it’s a bad night, I’ll have one in the other hand too.”

Status: Single

Best way to land a date with someone: “I wanna’ land a date wichu…?”

Craziest thing you have ever done at TCNJ: Chopped down bamboo forest for party decorations

My friend Dan and I were nearly detained by Campus Police for chopping down bamboo trees in plain sight on the side of the loop, then walking down the road with enormous branches covering all but our feet. Sirens went off. I casually dropped the load and kept moving along (I think I might have started whistling). Luckily, under the alibi of community service, my friend and I were let off, and still managed to transport a solid amount of decorations to an undisclosed location for our jungle party. Smoke machines, strobe lights, live branches: I think a lot of people remember that night, but not quite as fondly as I do.

Best way to your heart?  Be honest, be confident.

Favorite song: Anything Kenny Chesney, James Taylor, Zac Brown. All time favorite is  Born to Run.

“Save your strength for things that you can change, forgive the ones you can’t, let ‘em go.” –ZBB

Best birthday memory: Being in South Carolina for crew spring training. We spent the entire day in the sun, rowing on clear water. Nothing better than that.

What you plan to do this birthday: A few beers with my old man, followed by some “Shots with Garebear.”

Three words that describe you: Gentlemen, Scholar, Flannel.

Hilarey Wojtowicz is a senior Journalism/Professional Writing major at The College of New Jersey. Hilarey works for TCNJ's Residential Education and Housing Department as a Community Advisor, but is truly aspiring to be the next Carrie Bradshaw. Not only does Hilarey love writing for her campus's chapter of Her Campus, but she enjoys writing about sports for local newspapers, as well. A true Jersey girl at heart, Hilarey is definitely not from the Boston area, but is a huge fan of the New England Patriots. You can find her interning in New York City this Fall at Woman's Day Magazine.
