I watched some new fall shows so you don’t have to! When it comes to leaves falling and cooler months approaching, I like to think of oversized knit sweaters, pumpkin spiced lattes (or whatever your favorite drink is), and a good show to binge-watch. As you’re probably aware, there’s been a lot of new shows available this fall and I thought I’d give the lowdown on what’s worth the hype and what’s not.

1. Nancy Drew

I was a huge fan of the books when I was younger, so this series has a very special place in my heart. I’ll be honest, though, I wasn’t thrilled when I heard that the same producers for Riverdale are also producing Nancy Drew, but I decided to watch it anyway. I’ll admit, it is a new, fresh take on a beloved classic, but it is really only for you if you’re already a fan of supernatural beings. In this case, I’m talking about ghosts.

Unlike the books, Nancy doesn’t have a good relationship with her dad and there’s no signs of Ned. I loved the Nancy Drew movie from 2007, and this is different than that, but I still think tuning into this show might be worth your time – if you’re willing to keep an open mind. These characters are still lovable, but they’re not the same as they were in the books. I would give it three out of five stars.

2. Batwoman

This is probably one of the best new shows out there. I wasn’t sure if I would like it when I saw the trailers, but if you saw her in the Arrowverse crossover last year, you know that Kate Kene is Gotham’s new hero… whether she wants to be or not. It’s been three years since Batman disappeared and Bruce Wayne left Kate’s family behind. Kate soon realizes that the city needs a vigilante whether her father approves or not, just to protect them from the Alice in Wonderland gang that has it in for her father.

3. Looking for Alaska

Fans of John Green can rejoice, because after waiting for so long, fans are finally getting an adaptation of Looking for Alaska. If you’re looking for a great perhaps, look no further than this show. When it comes to book to show adaptations, this is exactly how it should be done. The characters feel very similar to how they were in the book. Miles, The Colonel, and Alaska are truly just as I’d imagined them.

These were the top three new shows to watch this season, but it’s completely your choice on what catches your attention. Happy binge-watching!
