As my freshman year at Texas A&M comes to an end, I’ve had some time to explore all the amazing traditions and opportunities A&M has to offer. Before I graduate, here are my top five things I hope to do during my time here as an Aggie.

Study Abroad at TAMUQ

College is a great opportunity to live in another country for a short period of time. I love traveling, and I have a goal to one day visit all seven continents, but visiting a place and getting to live there are two completely different experiences. I have never lived anywhere outside of the US, so I’m hoping to one day study abroad for a semester. TAMUQ is a small Engineering school in Doha, Qatar that offers select Engineering courses. The great thing about TAMUQ is that studying abroad here is relatively less expensive when compared to other study abroad opportunities since housing is completely free.

Become a Muster Host

Muster is probably one of my favorite A&M traditions and definitely one that has resonated with me the most. It’s the traditions at A&M that prove that Aggie Core Values are not just something we put on paper for the sake of it, but they truly are principals Aggies make an active effort to live by. Being a Muster host would give me the opportunity to provide a sense of community and support to the families who have lost a loved one.

Go to a Football Game

When I tell people I haven’t been to a football game yet, they are absolutely shocked. I went to high school where football was a big deal, and our team was pretty good too, but honestly I just find the sport pretty boring. I know this past season of Aggie football has been pretty sad, but I’m ready to see what the hype is all about.

Serve in The Big Event Every Year

This year, I had the opportunity to participate in The Big Event with my FLO (Freshman Leadership Organization), Fish Aides. About 30 of us spent the morning and afternoon of March 25th, 2023 helping out a lovely local resident in Bryan with painting her barn, raking leaves, and clearing out trees. Our resident was so welcoming and caring, and she even let us see her field of bluebonnets after we were done serving. The Big Event provides an amazing opportunity for students to serve the community they are a part of for four years, and I hope to be a part of this experience every year!

Meet Reveille

Miss Rev, our First Lady of Aggieland and highest-ranking member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets, is an absolute queen, and there’s just so much to love about her. The highlight of my day is scrolling through Instagram and seeing her adorable pictures. Since she is so popular, it’s been pretty difficult to meet her, but I am confident that one day I’ll get to finally see her.
