Meet Campus Celebrity, Tony Mendoza!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TAMU chapter.

Meet this week’s campus celebrity, Tony Mendoza! He’s a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2016, a Strategic Communications major, and host of Texas A&M’s own Student’s Perspective!

Her Campus: Explain for us what Student’s Perspective is all about

Tony Mendoza: Student’s Perspective is a Texas A&M based YouTube show where we ask students’ perspectives about campus topics and current events.

HC: How did you come up with the idea for the show?

TM: I’m going to give you my honest answer here: I came up with the idea for this show after applying and not getting into the 12th man productions. Instead, I decided to take my videography skills and create my own show.

HC: Where do you find the inspiration for new episodes?

TM: Anything that is going on around campus at the moment. I enjoy meeting new people and making people laugh. Jeff Toates was actually a big inspiration so it was pretty cool to get to interview him on the show.

HC: Do you have a favorite episode so far?

TM: TAMU 19: it is my favorite so far because we get to prepare the class of 2019 with freshman advice questions. I love the whole response I’ve been getting from that video, and a lot of kids have recognized me from that video alone. (Check out the video below!

HC: What are your plans for the show and yourself after you graduate?

TM: For the show, I hope in this semester to gain 500 subscribers and to launch a second show called Northgate Tales. For the future of the show I’d really like to spread the show to all Texas Universities. Texas A&M is the flagship for that dream. For myself, I hope to give the material I’ve been working on to a college sports program where I can further my videography skills.

Well there you have it! Be sure to look out for new episodes of Student’s Perspective. Subscribe to the YouTube page, follow them on twitter, and instagram. And be sure to catch Northgate Tails, premiering October 10th!
