I know Thanksgiving hasn’t even passed yet, but I’m already feeling the holiday spirit.

Normally, I wait to get excited about the holidays until after Thanksgiving, but this year, I’ve been watching a lot of Christmas movies early, and I can’t help but want to decorate my apartment.

That runs me into a bit of a problem, though. I would LOVE to turn my apartment into a Christmas wonderland; however, I don’t necessarily have the funds for that.

Decorating for Christmas in college is especially hard because you don’t want to spend a ton of money on decorations that you’ll only be around for a couple of weeks since most college kids go home for a long break during December and into the beginning of January.

With all of this in mind, I thought of some cute ideas for how to decorate for the holidays on a budget!

Shop at 5 below

5 below has TONS of holiday décor you can buy, and it’s all relatively cheap (and usually below $5). They also have really cute Christmas PJs! I’ve linked a few cheap décor ideas below!

Hang Photos

When I was younger and wanted to decorate my room for Christmas but didn’t have much to work with, I would just print out Christmassy pictures and hang them on my wall! If you want, you can print out pictures and put them in frames, too. I think this is a super cute way of making your space feel festive!

Holiday Candles

Even if there isn’t a single Christmas decoration in sight, if I smell a Christmas candle, I’m instantly thinking of Christmas! This is one of my favorite ways to “decorate” for Christmas. Personally, I love any bath and body works candle scent, but those do get expensive sometimes. So, any candle can make your room smell super cozy.

Hang String Lights

I think that string lights can be hung up throughout the year! So when the holidays roll around, I usually don’t mind buying some because I know I’ll probably keep them up for a while. Amazon has some super cute and cheap options to pick from!

Make Paper Snowflakes

This one might sound kind of childish, but I did this in my apartment last year, and they actually turned out pretty cute! This is definitely the cheapest option since all you need is some paper and scissors. It usually takes me a couple of tries to make a cute one, but this is a fun activity to do with your friends! I’ve linked a few cool videos to follow below:

Cassidy is currently a senior at the University of Tampa with a major in Communication, Media & Culture, and a minor in Law, Justice & Advocacy. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys watching tv shows and movies. If she’s not binging a television show, she’s most likely binging a book series. Cassidy loves hanging out with her friends, meeting new people, and deep diving (probably a little too far) into celebrity culture and gossip.
