Foods You Should Always Have in Your Pantry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

While going through the ups and downs in the world, food tends to be a wonderful comfort and mood lifter for many of us to help wind down or end the day with a nice meal. Sometimes we don’t feel like spending money on eating out or cooking an elaborate meal and that is perfectly fine! We’re all allowed to feel tired sometimes, but that doesn’t mean we should deprive ourselves of yummy balanced meals. Below is a list of foods that should always be stocked in your pantry/cabinets because they’re easy, hold for a long time, and can be quickly spiced up with different spices and sauces to make a meal more interesting.

1.    Rice/Pasta

Rice and pasta are fantastic to keep on hand because there are so many variations of the dishes you can make with them. They’re also a 2-step process that usually involves just water to cook them which is nice and simple.

2.    Soup

Soup is great because it warms up so easily and gives a real cozy homey feel. It is also nice because you can either go with a really light or really rich soup depending on your mood.

3.    Beans

Beans are a very overlooked ingredient that should be taken into account more often. They’re healthy, filling, and easy to incorporate into a myriad of dishes to help tie together a meal.

4.    Canned Vegetables

Canned vegetables get a bad rap for tasting less fresh but there are certain vegetables that hold very well in a can that make a great side dish for a meal. Some I have found to work well are artichokes, olives, and peas. Consider keeping some of these on hand for an easy meal addition.

I hope you find this list helpful in your future cooking endeavors and that you make delicious creations!
