I went to my first concert at age 13 to see One Direction in 2014. I remember the day so clearly, along with all the fun I had. Since then I have gone to many concerts. I’ve seen Taylor Swift, Halsey, Thomas Rhett, and many others. When the pandemic hit, I had tickets to see Halsey at her Manic Tour and Taylor Swift at Lover Fest East. I had amazing tickets for both, so imagine my disappointment at them being postponed and then canceled. I was longing for the day live music returned.

I love to sit around listening to music. At concerts, I loved dancing with the crowds and just taking in the positive energy. Concerts are a place I personally feel at home. I missed the feeling for all of 2020. In summer 2021, I finally bought my first concert ticket since 2019. I was set to see the Jonas Brothers in mid-October. My best friend bought a ticket to fly down to see them with me. Then I bought a ticket to Bearings in September, Pitbull in October, and Harry Styles in October. I felt like a kid on Christmas because I was finally going back to my happy place.

When my friend picked me up for Bearings, I was so excited. I had been waiting over a year for this moment.

I saw Harry Styles, Pitbull, and Jonas Brothers in one week. The feeling of being right where I’m supposed to be flooded over me. I was so happy I was back in my element. All the artists of the week were so nostalgic for me. The memories of my first concert at 13 all came rushing in as I stood in Harry’s crowd at 20 years old, and the feeling of home returned.

Hi! This is Jillian (but she really prefers to be called Jilly or Jill) from the University of Tampa. Jilly grew up right outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Jilly is an education major with a double minor in political science and leadership studies. She enjoys baking, ice cream, reading, and jamming to music with her friends. She's totally a dog person but has a special spot in her heart for cats. Jilly plans to teach the 3rd or 4th grade with hopes of instilling a love of learning in future generations.
