Meet the next Warren Buffet and Campus Celebrity, Michael Magnotto!
Michael, 21, is a junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania majoring in Finance and Management Information Systems. He is very involved and impressively the founder of many organizations on campus. Michael is the Student Government Treasurer, Vice President of the UN Student Alliance, President and founder of the Financial Management Association, Minister and founder of Orti Oricellari Intellectual Circle, sits on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Skyes College of Business, and lastly is a part of the 1935 Society on campus.
Michael believes the University of Tampa gives him a platform of opportunities. His least favorite thing about UT is the hot weather because he enjoys sporting his fancy suits.
In addition to Michael’s accomplishments, he was selected for a rigorous internship opportunity for Verizon this past summer. The internship helped strengthen his knowledge of finance and gave him a deeper understanding of corporate studies.
“It was always something I’ve wanted to do – get on top the Wall St. Bull. One day after work, I met a friend in downtown NYC for a couple drinks. It was late that night and walking back to the train station, it caught my eye. Normally, there are police guarding it to keep idiots like me off it. They had bigger issues that night I guess, I took it as an opportunity and didn’t hesitate to almost kill myself getting on top of it.”
Michaels hobbies include golf, cycling and day trading stocks. One of his proudest moments was riding 100 miles on his bicycle from his home town in Pittsburgh to Ohio! It was a personal goal he set for himself after graduating high school.
Although it seems like Michael is a super human, he is also a very laid back person. In the little free time that Michael has aside from his busy schedule, you can find him enjoying a nice day at his favorite beach near Tampa; Pass-a-grille Beach. You can also find him fanning it out at a Tampa Bay Lightning game.
Michael has one soft spot, he also includes this as one of the things he can’t live without out; that being his family. His parents reside in his hometown in Pittsburgh, while he has two older sisters studying in Boston and New York City. He recognizes his family as one of his strongest support groups.
“He was about 4 months at the time of the picture was taken this summer. I waited in the pouring rain in the middle of Manhattan to catch a bus up to Boston to see him, everything was basically soaked when I finally got on the bus and arrived in Boston around 2AM. It was one of the best trips of my summer though, I couldn’t wait to see and hold him that next morning.”
In 5 years Michael sees himself living in the New York City area and possibly Tampa. Being a well accomplished and intelligent individual that Michael is, there’s no knowing where he may end up, so look out for Michael Magnotto in the near future! He always lives on these words, “always focus on the job at hand the next one will come to you.”
