A month or so ago, I went to the eye doctor for an average checkup, but that appointment changed my life forever. Well, not really. But I did get reading glasses! I’ve never exactly had an opinion towards glasses, but since I am now wearing them, I figure I should probably form one.
Is it just me, or does the thought of glasses always bring to mind that one kid who sat alone at the lunch table in middle school? The one curled up with a book, while you couldn’t help but chuckle at his Harry Potter glasses (to yourself, obviously). Oh, the age of cafeterias and lunch tables. Moral of the story is though, that glasses have a bad rep. But have they evolved into something less nerdy and slightly sexy? While glasses may not be pictured on the red carpet, celebs clearly sport them on the streets. Hot, or not? We’ve asked a handful of Syracuse men for their humble opinions.
“Sexy, because it makes the girl look intelligent. It’s kind of a fantasy for all guys.”—Julian Capriles
“They bring attention to her eyes.”—Tyler Hartwell
“Depends on the person wearing them. Some girls can rock them. Smaller square ones are best, I think. But a girl doesn’t need glasses to see how hot I am.”—Josh Fisher
“Depends on the girl. If they have the right swag, it works.”—Guy Harrison Campbell
“If they don’t look good, and the glasses aren’t real, that’s a problem. They need to be prescribed. Also, the frames should look good with the bone structure.”—Cartier Sims
The odd duck: “Nah, it makes them look too smart and stuck up.”—Maxwell Scott
… I almost smacked him.
Minus one response (still bitter about that one odd duck), we have come to the consensus that glasses embody sexiness. Intelligence wrapped up into bold, sexy frames make the woman wearing them craved by men who encounter her. Also, might I add that there is a reason the sexy secretary is a wildly popular Halloween costume.
