Chelsea: Why did you want to become a DJ and when did you begin?

Daniel: I wanted to become a DJ when my uncle showed me the Tiesto in Concert DVD in 2003. I was amazed by the energy that Tiesto was transmitting to the people, so I always wanted to experience that feeling since then. Tiesto has also become my favorite DJ. I finally started to DJ when I bought my first controller in 2011, and I haven’t wanted to stop since.

Chelsea: Do you have a performance name for yourself?  If so how did you come up with the name?

Daniel: I just use Dani Carrasco, it’s my short name and that’s what my family and friends call me.

Chelsea: Was it difficult to establish yourself as a DJ?

Daniel: It’s definitely difficult to self-establish as a DJ, especially when you are starting and haven’t showed your skills. It is very helpful to have contacts.

Chelsea: Where do you usually have shows?

Daniel: I usually play in house parties and nightclubs, but I haven’t been able to get a DJ residency in a club yet.

Chelsea: What has been your favorite moment thus far in the field?

Daniel: My favorite moment so far was when I played in a club. It was a day party and the place was full of people, I couldn’t believe it.

Chelsea: Where and when can people come out to see you this semester?

Daniel: I don’t have a planned schedule, so my gigs happen randomly; but everybody can check out my Facebook if I have an announcement.

Chelsea: Where should people go if they want to contact you?

Daniel: I can be contacted on Facebook (Daniel Carrasco), soundcloud (danielcarrascodj), or by email danicarrascodj@gmail.com.

Chelsea: What are your career and life goals?

Daniel: My life goal is to become a successful and happy person. I would like to mix djing with being a businessman, but I haven’t thought about any plans; we will see what happens.
