The 1975 are back, bigger and better than ever. The British indie rock band rocked The House of Blues stage Thursday night kicking off the American leg of their new tour. The crowd went crazy as Matty, George, Adam and Ross walked out opening with their debut single, “Love Me”.

The next part of the set consisted of their more popular songs from their first album, The 1975.  The crowd sang along to favorites such as “Settle Down”, “So Far”, and “You”, as Matty whipped his hair and danced around the stage. The 1975 then changed up their set with new, not yet released songs off of their upcoming album, I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, so that fans could hear their new music before the album is released on February 26, 2016.  The new songs included a slower ballad called “Change of Heart”, an electronic funk song called “She’s American”, and an upbeat dance song called “Sound of Your Heart”. Many of their new songs had a strong 80’s feel to them, changing their sound from indie rock to more electronic pop.

After playing their new music Matty asked the crowd to put away their cell phones for two songs. He explained that everyone needed to stop being concerned with documenting their experience and instead live in the moment and share it with each other in the present. Once everyone put their phones away the band played their slower ballads, “Me” and “Falling For You”. The energy in the House of Blues was insane as the crowd sang along to Matty’s emotional performance.
