Three Tips for a Successful Spring Break

The time is finally upon us where students are finishing up their work, and ready to head off to a variety of destinations. Some choose popular spots such as Fort Lauderdale and Punta Cana, while others stay home or travel to other places that aren’t your typical spring break hot spots.

My friends and I are going to Orlando for five days and it is definitely a trip that has required a lot of planning since it wasn’t an all-inclusive resort like many choose to do.

Here is what we found to be the best things we have done to plan our trip:

1. Start early!

While you may think in the fall semester that spring break is months away, it is the perfect time to book the trip. We were able to get a Black Friday sale, which saved us a lot of money since we were booking the trip so early. Flights are also significantly cheaper if you book in advance, so that is also a key tip in getting as much done as possible ahead of time.

2. Agree on a budget

This is one of the most important things to agree on when planning a trip to get everyone on the same page. This will hopefully prevent any disagreements on what type of destination or hotels you are all looking for. Once this is decided, having a budget can also decide what type of things you want to do while your there. Where do you want to go out to eat? What type of attractions are you interested in doing? Knowing these answers can make the planning process much easier.

3. Make a general itinerary

While you don’t have to have every detail of every day planned out, it may be helpful to figure out the general order of what you plan to do. Even if its just relaxing on the beach everyday, having an idea of if you are going out to dinner, or planning any excursions can help you know what to expect as well as what to pack.
