Sorority and Fraternity formals are just around the corner, meaning, you have to start thinking about your dress, hair, makeup, and shoes for the occasion! I’m here to tell you that if you want to impress your date, your friends, and even the random people you will walk past, then you will not only need a stellar dress but even more importantly, you will need a hair-do that will WOW everyone!

That being said, do not follow the current fashions on campus and go for something that no one else is going to do. It is easy and normal for girls to straighten, curl, or even put their hair up in a bun. Yes, that can look fabulous, but you want to stand out! And the only way of doing that is by rocking an impressive hair-do!

One of the many hairstyles you should try is called the “Foxy Fishtail”. This hairstyle may sound complicated but it is actually really simple and looks awesome! Begin by gathering your hair into a high ponytail and securing it with a ponytail holder. Begin your fishtail braid by separating the ponytail into two sections and grabbing small pieces from the outside of each section and bringing them to meet in the middle. Proceed until the whole ponytail is braided. Secure the bottom with a ponytail holder. Spray everything with a light hold finishing spray. And then you’re done!

Another hairstyle that will work wonders is the “Cascading Curls”. This hairstyle is a sexy but classy half up, half down, hairstyle that will definitely make people take a second look!  To begin, curl all of your hair with a 1” to 1 1/2” curling iron, or with the flat iron. Do one small braid on each side of your part that ends by your ears. Pin up the crown area of your hair into a nice shape, then proceed to pin up curls down one side. Then just finish with hairspray and you are done!

Bottom line is, if you are going to a formal, a nice dinner, or just wanting to dress fancy for a day…try to spice up your hairstyle! You will not regret it!

I am currently a junior at Stetson University who is ready get things going! Growing up in D.C., I developed a keen sense for fashion, a thick skin, and a yearning for success. It was only recently that I took the leap of faith and permanently moved down to Florida, not far from where I attend school, so I could pursue my love for fashion, warm weather, and a fast-paced life. I can remember my first day at Stetson University like it was yesterday with all the chaos of meeting new friends mixed with the anxiety of new classes and nervousness of being alone for the first time, but most of all my biggest concern was the stress of figuring out how I could possibly pop out of my bubble and become what I wanted to be: the confident, successful, and driven college student who would not follow but create the trend! After two years of hard work, through becoming a part of the Greek life scene, joining many different organizations and learning from prior upperclassmen who have become successful, I have created communication and leadership skills that I am forever grateful for. With a recently new found passion for the journalistic side of life, I cannot wait to be apart of something bigger than I have ever been before so I can continue learning and gaining memorable experiences that will help me in my goal to make my lifelong dreams and aspirations come to life!
