2017 was certainly a full year. I started the new year in Europe, went on a mission trip to Alaska, declared my major, competed as a college athlete, developed some great new relationships and cut some old ties. If a year like 2017 taught me anything, it was to live in the moment and never look back!

However, the book for 2017 is closed and when I sat down to discover my goals for 2018, I realized I was tired of the boring: “lose 20 pounds”, “be kinder” and “take some extra me time” resolutions. Instead, Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous quote, “Do one thing every day that scares you”, inspired my New Year’s Resolution.

“Every day I will find one thing that scares, challenges or makes me happy.” Adventure is any unusual, exciting, or daring experience. 2018 will be my year of adventure and I challenge all of you to do the same. To get you started, here is a list of 18 things that challenge, scare or make me happy. I hope you can find one or two of my ideas and make your 2018 a year full of adventure:

1. Drastically change your hair

2. Sign up for open mic night

3. Get a tattoo or a new piercing

4. Go skydiving, scuba diving or cliff diving

5. Go on a blind date

6. Apply to your “dream” graduate program

7. Try a social media cleanse

8. Attempt a healthier diet

9. Plan a mini get away/go on the mystery trip

10. Start a bullet journal

11. Try a new art class

12. Start a blog

13. Apply for a leadership role in your favorite club

14. Apply for study abroad

15. Try a new food every month

16. Learn a new language

17. Try out for a new sport or intramural team

18. Follow through with your goals and resolutions

I hope your 2018 is full of laughs, new experiences and most importantly new adventures!

Hello there! I am the Campus Correspondent of the Her Campus chapter at Saint Vincent College. As a senior psychology major, I've made the most of my time in undergrad and am excited for all the doors I have opening ahead of me. I can definitely thank Her Campus for giving me invaluable skills. As a future psychologist, I hope that my articles (and the chapter's) are able to make you feel empowered, motivate you to start a conversation, and be kind. As a hero of mine has said, "If you do not take control over your time and your life, other people will gobble it up. If you don't prioritize yourself, you constantly start falling lower and lower on your list."- Michelle Obama. Be the change you want to see in the world, and smile. Always smile!
