Our women’s lacrosse team is seven games into the 2016 season! Before we know it our seniors will be playing their last game (immediate sad face), we’ll have won the conference (fingers crossed), and another season as teammates completed.

Even though this article is tailored to our women’s lacrosse team, you can take this motivation advice and apply it to your everyday life. Here are 5 little things to keep you goin’ just when you think you can’t anymore.

1. Remember the love of the game

No matter if you started playing last week, this year, or your whole life… You devote so much time to lacrosse! Why? Because you love it! Play for yourself, play for your fans, play for your teammates, play for coach, and play because it’s what you do best!

2. You’re like really pretty

A lot of little girls look at you, the college athlete, and say “Mommy, I want to be like her when I grow up!” I bet when you were younger you did that! Remember what an idol you are for so many kiddos out their; even your teammates. No matter how small the stage, you’re really awesome.

3. Excellence isn’t always perfection

Don’t put yourself down when you miss the prime opportunity for a perfect shot, drop a pass, and miss a ground ball… It’s going to be all right! The game will go your way if you keep at it and don’t. Give. Up.

4. You know what you’re doing

Be freaking confident!  If you have the lane to shoot, do it! We don’t spend 2 hours everyday practicing for nothing. If you miss, oh well! That’s one more chance we have to come out on top.

5. Your teammates love you

From the sidelines, to the restraining lines, to the circle, we all love you! No matter where you are in the game, you’re important! Be positive!

Be thankful every day that you get the opportunity to play on a team that loves and supports you in everything you do on and off the field!

Hello there! I am the Campus Correspondent of the Her Campus chapter at Saint Vincent College. As a senior psychology major, I've made the most of my time in undergrad and am excited for all the doors I have opening ahead of me. I can definitely thank Her Campus for giving me invaluable skills. As a future psychologist, I hope that my articles (and the chapter's) are able to make you feel empowered, motivate you to start a conversation, and be kind. As a hero of mine has said, "If you do not take control over your time and your life, other people will gobble it up. If you don't prioritize yourself, you constantly start falling lower and lower on your list."- Michelle Obama. Be the change you want to see in the world, and smile. Always smile!
