Simply put, housing at St. Vincent College is as stressful as finals week. You are put into a lottery and have to pull a number out of a bucket that will determine where you can live the following year. Here is a rundown of housing at SVC.

You look on the portal and see that LEARN Speaker series is starting to have a chance for priority housing.

You get all the people you want to live with and make sure they are there at the lecture.

You get a raffle ticket and just sit through the whole lecture thinking about what you will look like walking up to get it.

The end of the lecture comes and you find out that you didn’t win.

So naturally you glare at the winner.

After the lecture you realize that you have to do it all again at the next one.

And it’s the end of the lecture and you lose…again.

Then from going to the lectures you get a punch card so you have one more chance to get a priority housing ticket.

But, you lose…again.

Next is registration and once that is over you have to walk to the housing table in Carey.

You try to think of the best day to pick your number.

But all you really want is a low number and no matter when you pick, your odds are somewhat the same.

So you decide to go and pick a number.

But, it’s a high number.

Your dreams are crushed and you instantly have to rely on your roommate(s).

You tell yourself that there is another chance for priority housing during the week of housing.

So you get excited and start thinking about holding that really low number when you know you would do anything for it.

But you go through all of the trouble of Residence Living Week to not have your name pulled to win…again.

It is the day of housing selection and you are so nervous about what will happen.

You watch all of the people with the low numbers get their first housing choices.

But wait, your number is going to be called next…

You’re in!

Time to celebrate surviving another round of housing selection.

Happy housing week, SVC!
