This week’s Campus Celebrity is David Austin Butler Jr. David is a senior here at St. Vincent and a Capitan on the football team for the second year. David is a communications major and is looking forward to his life after graduation. David wants to shout out his best friend Andrew Geisler.
Her Campus (HC): What made you choose St. Vincent?
David Butler (DB): “My family went here. My grandfather and both my uncles went to prep school here as well. Also, both my uncles played football here.”
HC: What’s your favorite thing about St. Vincent?
DB: “The people.”
HC: What position do you play?
DB: “Wide receiver.”
HC: How many years have you played football?
DB: “10 years.”
HC: Have you played any other positions, if so which was your favorite?
DB: “I played outside linebacker, I’m a punter and a kicker. Outside linebacker was probably my favorite when I was in high school.”
HC: How does it feel to be a returning captain?
DB: “Obviously it’s an honor being selected Capitan, especially in my senior year. It’s an honor and a blessing to be selected by my teammates and coaches.”
HC: What are your future plans?
DB: “Either going to grad school and becoming a graduate assistant for football somewhere, or if that doesn’t work out I’ll be joining the United States Navy.”
HC: How do you motivate your teammates during practice and in games?
DB: “I just try to encourage them and motivate them to be their best, to enjoy every play because time goes by fast. I always want to push them to be the best they can be.”
HC: What professional football team would you like to be apart of if you had the choice?
DB: “I’d have to say the Pittsburgh Steelers, they’re my favorite team.”
HC: When and who was your first kiss?
DB: “Elementary School in the fifth grade at Ore Valley Elementary, it was on the play ground.”
