Whether you want to break your coffee addiction, hate the taste, or you want to save your Cage dollars for finals week, this is the article for you. Every college student could use more energy, more time and more sleep, to name a few things. Here are a few simple ways to energize and recharge without relying on espresso.
Exercise
If you’re rating high on the sluggish scale, try a form of light exercise to get your blood flowing. Whether you go for a jog, walk around campus or do jumping jacks in the library, a fitness break can serve as a great energizer.
Study standing up
Studies show that sitting down while doing work increases health risks and exhaustion. Instead of sitting at a desk all day, try working at a standing table.
Eat well and regularly
Eating a balance of protein, fats and carbs will keep your body alert throughout the day. Try to eat three meals a day at the same time each day. This way your body will accustom itself to a food routine much like a sleep routine.
Nap it up
Tired? By all means, take a cat nap. Recommended nap time is 15-20 minutes, so you don’t interrupt a sleep cycle.
Shower and hygiene
Shower. Wash your face. Feel refreshed, then go study again.
Dance break
If you need a stress-free break, jump around, sing, dance and be crazy with friends. Let loose and have fun!
Yoga or stretching
Letting your muscles stretch will wake you up and keep you alert; Yoga, stretches, massages anything to warm up your muscles and get you going!
