StO-Style: Everyone loves a Peter Pan Collar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

The Peter Pan Collar is one of the most commonly seen right-now elements in street fashion. Everyone loves it because it makes girls look young and fresh, with a taste of vintage. Peter Pan Collars are great because they can add that extra element of cuteness to any outfit and work extremely well for college girls!

Trick of this Trend: All you need to do is pair this element with other trends like oxfords, polka dots or even see-through clothes, and it will balance well with something you might consider too fashionable or out-there for a school day. Peter Pan Collars are everywhere and thus, hard to choose from. Today I want to say something about how to choose the right type based on your needs and body shape. The first two pictures are from the first page of lookbook.nu today. See, this is HOW popular it is! (Photo credit: http://lookbook.nu/ )

This kind of low-neck and wide peterpan collar works well even on curvy girls. On the other hand, the
crew-neck and longer shape one shown below, does not. The coverage of neck and collarbone will only
make boobs look extremely huge, thus the upper body appears unbalanced. Be careful when you wear it
with a sweater, sometimes it makes you too curvy.

This kind of low-neck and wide Peter Pan Collar works well for everyone, especially for curvier girls.

On the other hand, these crew-neck and longer shaped ones shown below work better on slimmer girls. This is because the coverage of neck and collarbone will only make the upper half of your body appear extremely unbalanced, if you have those womanly curves.

To do: wear your Peter Pan Collars with anything, and everything! Be creative!
To avoid: wearing sweaters with Peter Pan Collars is something to watch out for; it can add the look of extra weight – if you’re curvy! (Photo credit: http://lookbook.nu/ )

Still, whatever your body shape, this is a trend for everyone to try! For more cute looks with the Peter Pan Collar, follow the links under the photos. Also, check out American Apparel and Topshop online for more options!
