I’m a sucker for the v-neck, simply because having collars that come too close around the base of the neck is like wearing a dog collar, and for some reason it drives me up the wall. I also like the way a v-neck or a scoop neck or even a boatneck shows off my collarbone, the most universally flattering body part to display, and lengthens my neck, which isn’t very long. But I digress yet again.
The point is: the t-shirt is the most versatile, comfortable, flattering and low-maintenance article of clothing for most of us. It can be paired with denim or corduroy pants, shorts, athletic pants or shorts, flowing hippie skirts, high-waisted circle skirts and tight-sexy minis, or just as underwear for sleeping. It can be layered under dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts, blazers, jackets, vests or scarves. It can be dressed up or down and complements almost every style. Whether you’re preppy, bohemian, trendy, conservative, or a complete unabashed hipster, whether you’re a jeans kind of girl or a dress-up-every day-lady, you probably own more than a few favorite t-shirts.
I’ve been lurking around finding some of my favorite looks involving the basic tee (or tank), for your viewing pleasure and styling inspiration! Tee-hee!
