Ben Liska ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Olaf chapter.

Name: Ben Liska
Year: 2015
Relationship Status: Taken
Birthday: August 4th
Major: I’m currently working towards a double major in math and physics.
Concentration: If I have the time and the motivation I’ll try to get a concentration in education.

What do you love about Ole women?
What I love about Ole women is that they do more than just catch your eye. Not only is our campus filled with beautiful women, it is filled with active, intelligent, funny, passionate women who all continue to fascinate me!

Hobbies?
Ultimate Frisbee is truly the love of my life and takes up a good deal of my time here on campus. When I’m not busy with that, schoolwork, or working in the Pause, I love to sit down and read, watch a movie, or simply spend some time with my friends.

Activities you are involved in?
Along with Ultimate, I am an officer of the Society of Physics Students and I work in the Pause and as an usher for musical events. On top of that, I am helping some friends start a sailing team here at Olaf. I have no experience as a sailor, but I am a qualified Sperry owner and enjoy long walks along the beach.

Call or text?
I love the ease of texting when keeping in touch with someone, but if I really want to converse I definitely prefer to call.

What is the most romantic thing you have done for a girl?
My girlfriend is an amazing artist, so currently I am working on building her a small wooden easel to paint on. That will probably take the cake for the most romantic thing I have ever done for a girl.

What is your favorite place to study?
My favorite place to study is definitely the fourth floor of Regents; I just can’t get enough of the view! If I’m on a deadline, though, I usually head to the Ref Room because it’s quiet and I’m much more productive.

Favorite food?
Anything from the Caf! It took me a couple of months before I tried out the grains line last year, but since then I’ve probably gotten it at least once a day. My favorite is the vegan chili; it’s delicious!

Favorite movie?
Currently, it’s “Inception”. As much as it pains me to have such shallow movie tastes, I love anything with a lot of action. I’ve been digging all of the superhero movies that have come out the last few years!

Any secret or hidden talents?
This isn’t really a talent, but my friends say I should mention my secret love of everything ladylike, namely weddings, dresses, and flowers, so I’ll do that here: I love weddings, dresses, and flowers.

Finish this sentence: A girl looks her best when…
She smiles! I’ve got a soft spot for any girl with a true ear-to-ear grin and a twinkle in her eyes.

Describe yourself in one word.
Ticklish.

Pet peeves?
Brodie Smith.

What is your ideal date?
That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket. But seriously, anything outdoors. I love a fun picnic or bonfire paired with late night stroll; it’s the perfect way to get to know someone.

What he wants Ole women to know:
A lot of the guys on the Ultimate Frisbee team are single…

Best pick up line?
Honestly I’m much too shy to ever use a pickup line, but if I were it would definitely be something really nerdy. If she didn’t like that humor she wouldn’t be the girl for me!

If you were a superhero, what would your superhero name and power be?
I think it would be sweet to be super smart, then you could find ways to give yourself other powers. I’m thinking a Tony Stark/Iron Man scenario except way cooler.
