5 Things Frozen The Movie Taught Me As An Adult

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St. John's chapter.

If you’ve seen the movie Frozen, Disney’s hit sensation that came out in 2013 with some popular songs including “Let it Go” sang by the legendary Idina Menzel herself then you know that Frozen is a great movie for all ages! And as with many Disney movies there are valuable lessons to be taken away, no matter how old the viewer is.

Prince Charming isn’t exactly always charming

Princess Anna, being young and naïve, like a lot of women are portrayed in literature and movies falls for the handsome Prince Hans. He has a title, a nice face, very fashionable, rich, and even seems to be very gentlemen like. Yet in today’s society, Hans is what everyone prefers or what parents deem to be the “perfect man” for their daughters. But as we saw in the movie, he took advantage of his perfections in order to use poor Anna.

Always go for the guy that you least expect

Kristoff is a perfect example of a guy who made it out of the “friend zone.” When Anna first met him, she wanted his help but only saw him as a friend. This was only because her head was up in cloud nine for Hans. The difference between Hans, is that Kristoff is a little quirky, not the best dresser, doesn’t have the dream job, but what he does have is a heart full of love and generosity.

Sometimes you have to rely on your sister (family member) for support and love

What I personally love about Frozen is that it teaches you the power of love between sisters. Anna did not want to give up on bringing her sister Elsa back and Elsa came to Anna’s rescue when she found out she was in trouble. The deepest love you will always have is the love between siblings and a family member.

There is an Olaf in everyone

In the movie, Olaf being the super cute snowman that he is wishes for nothing more than to be in the sun and feel it against his icy skin. Although his request is quiet impossible since he will melt being near sun at all. He still has the motivation to make his dreams come true no matter how crazy it is. And thanks to Elsa, his dream became a reality; it just takes a little patience and trial and error.

Last but not least, Frozen taught me that it’s okay to be a child at heart and sing your heart out to “Let It Go”

With all the laughs, sighs, and occasional musical scores, Frozen is definitely a movie to watch and de-stress to. There is nothing like a movie that brings back all the perfect childhood memories!
