6 Steps to a Perfect Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at St Edward's chapter.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and unless you have a significant other you may not be very excited about the upcoming holiday. Many single people dread Valentine’s Day and the thought of seeing couples take over every restaurant and movie theater in the city. However just because you are single it doesn’t mean you can’t still have a fabulous Valentine’s Day with the people you love most. So here are some tips on how to have the best Galentine’s Day ever.

1. Realize it’s okay to be single.

The first and most important step to having the best Valentine’s Day with your best friends is realizing that it is okay to be single! Celebrating Valentine’s Day with a significant other can be really amazing, but celebrating it with your closest friends and treating yourself can be just as enjoyable.

2. Dress up!

It doesn’t matter if you are just getting together with some friends, taking some time to get dolled up will not only make you look great it will also make you feel great.

3. Cook!

Find a group of friends, get together and cook a marvelous home cooked meal! Have everyone contribute one key element to the meal and just enjoy spending time together and making a delicious meal.

4. Watch a bunch of feel good movies!

Instead of going for a sad romance movie opt for something like “About Time” or something that will make you die of laughter such as “Spy.”

5. Do a little gift exchange.

Who said getting and giving gifts was something only couples could do? Go out and buy your friends a flower and some candy or anything that reminds you of them and surprise them at dinner. It will definitely bring a smile to their face, and seeing what everyone gets each other will be much fun.

6. Bake some treats together.

Baking is one of the best ways to bond with people and there is no better way to make use of all of the chocolate that is out for sale during Valentine’s Day than by putting them in some chocolate chip cookies.

Valentine’s Day is really what you make of it. Instead of staying at home watching “The Notebook” go out with your friends and make it your goal to have a fantastic time. Like a wise woman once said “Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock.” Make this Valentine’s Day a great one!
