Chasing vs. Attracting – a Case for Manifestation

I’ve always been a fan of manifesting. However, I’ve noticed that within the past year – while in the process of trying to attract what I wanted – I was trying too hard. I was chasing. And though it took me a while to realize it, I have since learnt that chasing only pushes away what’s meant for me.

I’ve felt a huge change within the past few months. I’m not sure what caused it, but suddenly I feel much more open to the universe and ‘going-with-the-flow’ rather than forcing things to happen. As obvious as it sounds, the less I tried to make things happen, the more of what I wanted came to me. I would find myself in a constant state of anxiety, wondering if I’m doing the right thing and making the right choices to get what it was that I wanted. This epiphany has prompted my realisation that chasing pushes away, and attracting brings closer. While this revelation sounds so simple, it is often, at least for me, difficult to tell the difference.

The difference is patience. One of the key factors of manifestation that I often forget about is patience, yet it is a crucial aspect of attracting what you want from life. Manifestation doesn’t happen overnight; in fact, it often takes months, or even years before it’s complete. So, give it time.

Reflecting on the tension between chasing and attracting, I have realised that the second I feel myself running after something, stressing, and overthinking, I need to take a deep breath and let it go. Nine times out of ten, something better is coming down the line, but it will only come if you stop chasing. It sounds counterproductive, but ultimately, the laws of manifestation teach that what is meant for you is meant for you, and will come to you in due course. As follows, taking the bad with the good is a necessary balance. Inevitably, you won’t get everything you try to manifest or attract. In fact, sometimes you end up with the very opposite of what you wanted. However, embracing the bad will only help you learn, and allows you to appreciate the good when you finally attain what you’ve been looking for. I like to think that the universe has my back; a big masterplan unfolding in front of me as I go through life. It is no surprise then that chasing after what I think is part of the plan always backfires. Without fail. Instead, I try to imagine myself sitting back and doing my own thing while the universe works its magic. As long as I focus on myself and my goals, everything will fall into place.
