Tips for Keeping Up Your 2016 New Year Resolutions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SPU chapter.

Happy New Year SPUdents!

It’s a new year and a new quarter, which leaves us feeling like we have a fresh start to working hard and fulfilling our goals. How can we keep ourselves accountable?

If your goal is to get yourself to the gym

Find a gym buddy! It’s harder to skip out on treadmill time when there is someone to recognize your absence. Put together a pump-up playlist that motivates you to work out.

If your goal is to raise your GPA

I personally fall into the trap of setting too high expectations for my grades at the beginning of the quarter. Keep yourself on top of things with a planner that you use for everything. Color coordinating actually helps the brain with memorization! Also, finding a cozy coffee shop or study spot can help correlate studying with something more enjoyable.

If your goal is eat healthier

Remember that thinking too much about what you’re eating can lead to unhealthy habits and sometimes gaining weight. Read reliable sources about what is healthy and think about food as fuel for our bodies. Buying books about healthy foods tend to be far more reliable than searching for sources online!

If your goal is to switch up your style

Research what your favorite style icon wears and find one or two staple pieces to match their style. You want to stay true to your personal style somewhat so that you don’t regret transforming your entire wardrobe!

I hope you find these tips helpful in starting off 2016! Cheers to a new quarter.
