Sitting down with a good book is one of life’s greatest pleasures. It allows you to dive into new worlds, get to know amazing characters, and explore different topics. If you are trying to get into reading, or if you are already an avid reader, then 2024 will have a lot of great new books for you to choose from. 2024 is jam-packed with many exciting book releases of all genres. Here are upcoming book releases that are on my TBR for 2024.

The Fury, Alex Michaelides (January 16)

From the best-selling author of The Silent Patient comes a new murder mystery. The new book follows Laura and her friends who take a trip to Greece that is ruined by murder. Alex Michaelides is famous for his unexpected twists in his novels, and I have a feeling one will be coming in this new book.

House of Flame and Shadow, Sarah J. Maas (January 30)

2023 was the year I discovered a love for fantasy novels. Since then, I have constantly been told to read the Sarah J. Maas books. After seeing that there was a new release coming in 2024, I knew I needed to begin. This new release is the third book in the Crescent City series. It is recommended to read the author’s other two series (A Court of Thorns and Roses and Throne of Glass) first, so I am planning on reading those and then moving on to the Crescent City series.

Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect, Benjamin Stevenson (January 30)

In 2023 I read Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone by the same author and I thought it was excellent. The author can tell a great mystery story while adding in some dark humor. His new book follows crime writers who are attending a festival on a train. When a murder takes place, the writers spring into action to uncover what has happened.

The Women, Kristin Hannah (February 6)

This new book comes from the author of many popular books including The Nightingale and The Great Alone. This new book follows a woman going to war to help fight for her country. Kristen Hannah highlights women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect their country and how the conflict shapes them.

How to Solve Your Own Murder, Kristen Perrin (March 26)

After hearing about this new mystery, I instantly knew I needed to add it to my 2024 TBR. A fortune teller predicts that Frances will be murdered, so she spends her life trying to solve a crime that has not actually happened. Then, years later, Frances is found dead, and her great-niece is determined to solve the murder. The story sounds intriguing so I am very excited to dive into this new mystery when it is released in March.

Funny Story, Emily Henry (April 23)

In 2023 I read all of Emily Henry’s books and loved each of them. When she announced her new book coming in 2024 I became instantly excited. The popular romance author’s new book follows Daphne and Miles. The two become roommates after Daphne’s ex cheats on her with Miles’ ex. The two then begin to fake-date to get back at their exes. Emily Henry’s romance books never disappoint me, so this is one of my most anticipated 2024 releases.

The Reappearance of Rachel Price, Holly Jackson (April 2)

Holly Jackson quickly became one of my favorite authors after I read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. When I saw that Holly Jackson was coming out with a new book, I instantly knew that it would be on my 2024 TBR. Rachel Price mysteriously vanished, leaving her young daughter, Bel, behind. When the family agrees to participate in a true crime documentary, the disappearance of Rachel is brought back up. Unexpectedly, Rachel reappears in society. Bel is determined to uncover the truth surrounding her mother’s disappearance.

One Perfect Couple, Ruth Ware (May 21)

I have read a couple of Ruth Ware’s psychological thrillers, and they have all been page-turners. This new book follows Lyla and her boyfriend who enter a reality TV show that takes place on a deserted island. Things start to go very wrong shortly after arriving on the island. Ruth Ware fails to disappoint so this new release definitely made it on my 2024 TBR.

The Housemaid is Watching, Freida McFadden (June 11)

The third book in The Housemaid series is being released and I could not be more excited. I read the first two books in 2023 and they instantly became two of my top reads. To avoid spoilers, not much can be divulged about this book, but take my word that this series is one of the best thrillers and mysteries of all time. The twists and turns will constantly keep you guessing until the very end.

The Life Impossible, Matt Haig (September 3)

From the author of The Midnight Library, we are getting another book bound to inspire transformative thinking and self-reflection. The book follows a retired widow who prefers to spend time alone and gets a new perspective on life and how that can change everything.
