Cherish Triplett is a freshman majoring in media production from Louisville, MS. An inspired and self-driven woman, Triplett will always pursue her goals with determination. If you don’t know who she is yet, you certainly will by the time you graduate.
An inspiring moment for her was last year when she entered a pageant. She was the only “full-figured gal” in the pageant. Because of the negativity and hurtful words of her detractors, she started to doubt herself and her place in the competition. Despite this adversity, she stayed in the pageant. In the talent competition she performed a “spoken word” piece, and apparently reasserted her place on-stage. She walked away with the title of Ms. Ebonnet.
“I have feelings too. I am still human. All I want is to be loved, for myself and for my talent.”
Triplett often uses these words of Marilyn Monroe. In her eyes, even if she becomes successful, money and glamor wouldn’t matter. She just wants people to see her and love her for who she is as a person.
She plans to use her words on and off campus to help people realize that “image isn’t everything.” She wants people to read her words and think, ”Wow, I know where she is coming from.”
Triplett’s motivation is her confidence in her skills as a speaker and writer. She believes in a dream and wants to make a difference. She always told herself she will not go day to day wondering why, when, or how about the details of life, but rather to establish a solid foundation for her to pursue her dreams.
In her future, Triplett wants to become a motivational speaker or even write a book or two. She hopes for these things because she would like people to share her vision for life, and see the world from her own unique perspective.
Cherish Triplett is an aspiring spoken words performer, but she doesn’t stop there. We are all very likely to be hearing from her all over campus in the near future. Be on the lookout, because Cherish Triplett is definitely a rising icon.
