Your Guide to Bathing Suit Cover Ups for Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

Since spring is here and summer is around the corner, we’re sure your poolside invitations are pouring in. There’s no doubt that you’re going to look hot in your bathing suit, but what about what you wear over it? The type of cover up to choose varies on the location you’re headed to. You wouldn’t wear the same cover up to your own pool as you would on a boat in Tahiti, now would you? We’re here to help you strut in the most stylish (and suitable) cover-ups for wherever you’re headed!

If you’re headed to the beach: Opt for one or two options. You can go for the casual look, which includes a pair of shredded shorts and a loose button up. So “Risky Business” of you! Or you can totally rock a white sundress if you are trying to dress it up.

If you’re headed to a rooftop pool party: For me, whenever I hear rooftop I automatically think city. City means chic. For this scenario, I’d opt for a crochet or any type of short coverup. Don’t forget to pair this ensemble with a pair of huge sunglasses and statement sandals.

If you’re on a boat: Boats, whether a yacht or a speedboat, make us feel luxurious. For this scenario, I would wear a sheer maxi dress with any type of design. Not only will you feel the breeze of the water but also you won’t be flashing anyone with all the wind gushing your way.

If you’re headed to a friend’s house: For this, you don’t want to look like you tried too hard, but you also want to keep your style intact. It’s a casual setting so for this, I’d wear a pair of loose shorts and pair it with a crop of any kind! You can dress it up with gladiator sandals or whatever sandals you choose!
