The Singing Men of SMU: Southern Gentlemen

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

Have you been dreaming of a guy that has the voice of an angel? A guy that steals the spotlight during the fraternity serenades and rivals the songs of Finn Hudson on Glee? You are in luck collegiate’s because on this very campus we have not one but eleven guys willing to knock you off your feet with their melody. They are the Southern Gentlemen.

The Southern Gentlemen have been swooning the collegiate’s of SMU since the fall of 2008 when the group was founded by Trey Pratt. They are an all male A’Capella group which means that no instrumental sound is used when these gentlemen perform, only their voices.

The gentlemen hold two concerts during the year, one in the fall and one in the spring. If you missed the concert last semester I would recommend liking their page on Facebook to ensure you hear their talent live.

If you can’t bear the thought of having to wait until the concert to hear them, then check out their channel on youtube:http://www.youtube.com/user/sogentmusic?feature=mhee. My personal favorite is their version of It’s Gonna Be Me by N’SYNC, along with their voices their dance moves are also flawless, so long Justin Timberlake and hello Southern Gentlemen.

Caroline Wright, a double major in Business Marketing and Communication Studies at Southern Methodist University, is thrilled to be part of the Her Campus Team. Although a St. Louis native, she has enjoyed becoming a true Texan in spirit over the past two years! She has been employed by a variety of companies including Kate Spade New York, NBC Universal Pictures, Brynn Bagot Public Relations, Rent the Runway, and Nordstrom. Caroline is currently Social Chair for her sorority Kappa Alpha Theta as well as serves on the Board of SMU's Student Foundation.
