Austin Prentice ’12, SMU Student Body President

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.

SMU Student Body President, Austin Prentice, took time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions for Her Campus SMU.  A Portland, Oregon native, Austin will graduate in May and plans to move to Washington D.C to pursue a job in the field of political Science.

What are your favorite and least favorite things about being Student Body President?
Representing the student body for positive change on campus is the best part about being president.  The passionate people I meet everyday and the opportunity to see SMU from a different perspective are also benefits, but the best part is still interacting with fellow students

What is your favorite thing about SMU?
My favorite thing about SMU is the willingness to help

If you could change anything about SMU what would you?
I would strongly encourage students to more passionately invest in the athletic department.

Any advice to next year’s Student Body President?
My advice to next year’s president would be to never take a day for granted.  This position is incredibly overwhelming and busy at times, but it is an incredible blessing and honor to be able to serve SMU.
