Binge-Worthy, Feel-Good TV Shows to Tackle on Your Next Self-Care Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SLU chapter.

With life being full of constant chaos these days, it is important that we have ways to relax and take care of ourselves during all the stress of everyday life. These five television series are perfect to  binge on your next self-care day—you won’t regret it!

1. “GIlmore Girls”

This show is an oldie, but a goodie. If you are looking for something warm and heartfelt to watch, consider this show about a mother-daughter duo who are best friends. The journeys they experience are relatable and simple which is what makes them so enjoyable to watch. This show always puts me in a good mood and reminds me how simple can sometimes be better in this large and crazy world. This show is currently on Netflix.

2. “Young and hungry”

This show is the cutest rom-com. It is vastly underrated in my opinion. This show follows the life of Gabby, a broke chef who ends up getting a job as a personal chef for a rich tech geek named Josh. This show can be found on Netflix.

3. “Diary of a future president”

Looking for some Disney nostalgia but want to watch something new? This show is the one for you! It follows the diary of a young girl who will become the president and all the obstacles she faces to get there. This show can be found on Disney+ and is, in my opinion, one of the best Disney shows released in quite some time. And for all my “Jane the Virgin” fans out there, Gina Rodriguez plays the president. This show includes coming of age and heartwarming moments. They just released season two, so there is plenty of binge-worthy content in this series.

4. “The good place”

In the mood for something deep? This show will take you further. It is essentially about what happens to a group of people in the afterlife. It explores head-throbbing topics that make you think deeply about the human afterlife. While this show is about a quite serious topic, the comedy lightens it up to be enjoyable to watch. This show can be found on Netflix.

5. “cobra kai”

If you like “The Karate Kid,” then you will be in love with this TV show that came out a few years ago and is still planning on releasing more seasons. It follows the relationship between Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso through more exciting karate events, including forming their own dojos. This show has feel-good elements, action and even a little bit of romance. It is a great show to watch with your family or by yourself. This show is oddly inspirational, seeing how passionate the characters are. This show can be found on Netflix.
