Uncle of Kim Jong-un executed for “corruption.”

Earlier this week North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un’s uncle was removed from a communist party session by armed guards.  Chang Son-thaek was executed Thursday for corruption. In the past Mr. Chang had admitted to abusing his position to form a faction against the state and to harboring his own political goals.  Chang was frequently seen alongside his nephew and may felt he was the intelligence behind the throne. There are rumors that his work with China led him to admire some of the economic reforms occurring there, ideas that could not be acceptable to the North Korean Regime.

Can a six-year-old sexually harass someone?

Earlier in December a six-year old boy was suspended from school for “sexual harassment” for kissing a girl on the hand. The boy had already received an in school suspension for kissing the same girl. This week the superintendent of the school decided to drop the sexual harassment claim and to label it as misconduct instead. The change of label is most likely a response to public outcry after the incident was reported. The mother of the girl said that the boy had tried to kiss her daughter many times without her permission. The boy’s mother said she understood the suspension was to get his behavior to stop, but that the sexual harassment label was over the top.

Elementary schools reject traditional lockdown procedures.

Everyone remembers practicing lock down drills at school as a child. But now, after the Newtown shooting, new protocols are being investigated as alternative plans in the case of a shooter. Over the summer the Federal Department of Education endorsed a much more aggressive approach. The new protocol encourages teachers to get students out of the building and even to interrupt the shooter if possible. Some still believe that a lockdown is still the safest way to handle this incredibly dangerous situation. Advocates for the new plans say it gives students and teachers more options than to just hide and hope for the best.
