I had the VIP treatment when I was given the chance to interview the man behind the package center emails, Mark! He invited me behind the counter where I had the first hand look on how the packages are attained, scanned and organized. You’ll be fascinated by what I’ve learned from Mark!
HC: How long have you been working at SJU?
M: May of 2003. I started as a student back in 2001, graduated from here and continued to work here. SJU is my whole life.
HC: Wow, I’ll say! You seem very dedicated to your job. What’s your favorite part about working in the packaging center?
M: The people- the faculty and students. There is such a good morality and everyone is always happy to be here. I’ve formed great relationships with everyone.
HC: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
M: Well I have a 5-year-old daughter named Jada and she is my number one fan. I know I can’t sing, but I still do at home because she tells me I’m such a great singer. Also, my father’s been working at SJU for over 35 years. I’ve grown up with the SJU community.
HC: What’s the most bizarre package you’ve seen?
M: There was a coconut with just the address that came through, a fish that sung nonstop and there are always those packages that make noise but you’re not sure of what’s inside of it.
HC: What is your dream job?
M: I actually do personal training on the side. It’s my passion. I’m getting certified now in an exercise science program so I can advance in my personal training and become a health coach.
HC: Lastly, what is your motto that you live by everyday?
M: Preach positivity!
