A Definitive Ranking of Every Song From Thank U, Next

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Simmons chapter.

Ariana Grande, a queen, has blown up in the past two years. After losing ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, a break-up with Pete Davidson and the release of her fourth album Sweetener in August, she released yet another album in February titled Thank U, Next. If you haven’t heard about this yet, stream it on your preferred music platform ASAP.

Now, here are my personal rankings of Thank U, Next that no one asked for:

1. ghostin

BEAUTIFUL. WONDERFUL. MUST LISTEN. 9.8/10

2. in my head

Starts off with one of Ari’s besties, Doug Middlebrook, giving some A1 advice. I also adore this song. 9.7/10

3. NASA

Oh, NASA. Grande has been known to have a passion for outer space and astronomy. I love this song, perfect for spring. 9/10

4. bad idea

Cannot begin to express how much I love this song. The hook, the beat – beautiful. 8.6/10

5. bloodline

A great song to listen to pre-hype for any event. Plus, it features her beloved Nonna, Joan. 8.5/10

6. imagine

A beautiful ballad that teases a slight pop beat with the always amazing vocal range of Grande. The song has been rumored to be about Miller, but there has not been any confirmation. 8/10

7. 7 rings

Don’t get me wrong, I love 7 rings and the music video was wonderful. It’s definitely overplayed, though. 7.8/10

8. fake smile

Great for chilling/crying seshes. 6.8/10

9. needy

A very simple song describing the all-too-often struggle of being a needy person in a relationship or friendship. (Guilty.) 6.5/10

10. thank u, next

Again, wonderful music video and initially a great song. Unfortunately, it’s kind of overplayed. 6.4/10

11. break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored

Grande is def trying to cater to the public on this one, not a personal fav. 5.7/10

12. make up

For some reason, the beat gives me straight Rugrats vibes. 5.5/10

Reminder, these are all personal opinions and you should totally give the album a listen. Ari, ya did it again. How? I do not know. Girl outdoes herself every time. What will she do next? Your guess is as good as mine.
