The annual mock beauty pageant starring select Siena students raises money for Habitat for Humanity, an international organization that works towards providing affordable housing to those who need it. Habitat has built more than 500,000 homes for more than 2 million people worldwide. The organization was founded in 1976 and has been helping low-income families find affordable housing ever since.
Her Campus Siena: What is your name, school year, and major at Siena?
Chris Estremera: Hello, I am Chris Estremera. I am a senior at Siena, and I major in History, and will have a certification in Social Studies Secondary Education.
HCS: What made you want to become involved with Mr. Siena?
CE: I have really enjoyed my years at Siena College, and I feel I have little regrets. However, going into senior year, something I always wished I was a part of was Mr. Siena. Thankfully I was working with Annamaria on virtual tours this winter break, and she gave me the opportunity to be part of this wonderful event that helps fundraise for Habitat for Humanity.
HCS: Have you done any service trips? If so, where? Are you planning on doing any other service trips while at Siena?
CE: I have not done service trips, but have been involved in service in the Capital Region, such as cooking at the Ronald McDonald House. My senior year I was hoping to get involved with a service trip, but unfortunately due to Covid that was not possible, and I have continued to find ways on campus and virtually to serve others.
HCS: Let’s give the people some hints…what special talent might we see at Mr. Siena?
CE: I don’t want to give away too much, but I will be singing a song from one of my favorite musicals, and hopefully one most people are familiar with.
HCS: What would you like to say to the people of Siena?
CE: I would like to say thank you for making Siena College a great community to be a part of, and thank you for supporting Habitat for Humanity, and the difference they make! I hope you enjoy the show!
