6 Ways Snow Days Have Changed Over The Years

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

Snow day. These two words used to have such a different meaning back when we were children.

Classes canceled in elementary school usually meant a Disney Channel marathon but now it usually means catching up on homework.

Here are some ways that snow days have changed over the years…

1) When we find out about snow days. In high school, the night before. In college, probably around 5am. So put those pajamas on backwards, prepare your snow dance, and get that spoon under your pillow.

2) Shoveling takes on a whole new meaning. Maybe once upon a time it meant helping your parents clear the drive way but now it means shoveling your own path through campus.I mean our tuition doesn’t cover snow plowing services, does it?

3) No classes = no homework! Now a snow day is a an extra day to catch up on all the assignments that you haven’t done.Especially, if you banked on having a snow day and didn’t do any of your work.

4) Drinking hot chocolate becomes drinking hot chocolate…with a twist (if you’re over 21 then you know what I mean).Cheers to the snow day!

5) Building a snow man ….isn’t really the same.

6) Snowball fights become

…okay maybe some things never change!

Happy Snow Day, Siena College!
