Social distancing has been ruling our lives for quite a while now, which means we can’t spend as much with our loved ones as we’d like. And what’s even harder is trying to find new ways to connect with people with a six-foot barrier between you and them.

Struggling for ideas? I’ve got you!

Send a Card or a Letter

It may be old fashioned, but I’m big into sending cards. It’s such a simple way to surprise someone with something other than a bill in the mail, especially if they’re not expecting it. Sending a card is also a super inexpensive way to tell someone you care about them. If you’ve got a Walmart near you, hit up the 99-cent section and go crazy. They even have holiday themed ones, like Halloween and Valentines and Easter throughout the year. And I promise you most of the 99 cent-ers don’t even look cheap and most of them are actually Hallmark. Slap on a 55-cent stamp and you’ve got yourself a less than $2 gift for someone special.

If you’ve got a lot of friends to send card to, you can even buy a pack of cards (as long as you don’t care if all your friends get the same design) for between $5-$10. They are typically smaller cards, but it’s not the size (or the price) of the card that matters, if the fact that you handwrote someone a special note to tell them how much you love them.

Trust me, it’s a game changer! And your friends will look forward to receiving them! I know mine do!

Set Up a Virtual Bingo/Trivia Night

You can even get super creative and make your own bingo board or trivia questions! This doesn’t have to be super expensive! Email all your friends your beautiful new board and hop on Zoom or FaceTime and get the game rolling. Maybe even adding a pool for someone to buy little prizes would even be cute.

Make it fun, make it inexpensive, but more importantly, make the connection…you won’t regret it. And it will be a lot of fun.

Get Together Virtually for a Creative Project

Get a pack of coasters off Amazon and some paint and get creative! Paint a design for yourself or something you think they’d like and show it off! Even grab a bottle of wine and some snacks and hop on Zoom together and have a makeshift paint n’ sip. You could even package everything up nice and pretty and send them to each other and you’ll both have a piece of your friend(s) with you even though you can’t actually be together.

These are only a few ideas, but something that is so simple and easy. It’s a fun way to connect and bond, even from your own respective places!

And of course, if you like these ideas, come join HCS and join in on our bonding events (we’re doing all of these!).

Happy connecting!
