Things to Accomplish This Spring Break

By Marissa Merkt

While it may be tempting to sit on your butt and watch Netflix marathons all break long, this week is precious time to utilize. This is the calm before the storm, as finals are rapidly approaching.

  1.  Catch up on reading and even read ahead

The semester can get really busy as you juggle all your homework assignments and often times reading gets pushed to the side. Use this time to finally crack open those expensive textbooks.

  1. Apply to internships

Summer is just around the corner, so now’s the time to apply for that trendy internship in your job field. Internships are a great way to get experience and make sure your major is really something you want to pursue. Often times they can be competitive to get into so applying sooner than later is wise.

  1. Pick up an extra shift (or two) at your part-time job

With all this free time, you might as well spend it at your part-time job where you can make some dough. Later you can spend the extra cash online at your favorite store.

  1. Visit with your fam

While life isn’t on hold for your parents, who have “real world” jobs and your students who are still in high school, there’s always the weekend to go visit your family. Your family has probably been missing you dearly. Besides, who could pass up the free home cooked meals and laundry service?

  1. Catch up with an old friend

While you’re home visiting family, why not visit with an old high school pal as well? Odds are they are on spring break too and have lots to fill you in on.

  1. Exercise

You finally have time to work out so you can’t use the excuse that you are “too busy”. Besides, now’s the time to get fit for your summer bathing suit.

I'm a Junior Communications Journalism major at Shippensburg. In my free time I like to run, read, watch Netflix and spend time with God.
I'm Nicole! Nikki, Nic, anything you want to call me really. I'm from south-eastern Pennsylvania and I love life and beauty. Whenever I'm not writing or taking pictures for my blogs or social media accounts, you can find me (hopefully) at the beach surfing, traveling, making new friends and seeing new places. I'm in love with people I've never met and places I've never been to. I am currently a Senior (!!!) at Shippensburg University, majoring in Communications Journalism (focusing in Public Relations) and minoring in Psychology. I would love to work for a PR firm with advertising, event planning and perhaps a chance to travel. Thanks for reading!! - Nicole
