Spring Has Sprung

By: Kaylee Beattie

It’s safe to say that spring has officially sprung. Temperatures are rising, the sun is shining and flowers are blooming. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been itching to be outside and enjoy the fresh air without it turning your face into an ice cube. So now that spring has FINALLY made its arrival, what are some things you can do?

  • Go sit outside – if you just like to enjoy the air and feel the sun, go sit outside on one of the Adirondack chairs all over campus. Take your homework and do it there, the library is always crowded this time of year anyways!

  • On campus – there is plenty of options on campus that basically requires you to be outside. There are volleyball courts, tennis courts and basketball courts, plus Frisbee and a walking trail. Go take advantage of this.

  • Off campus – Britton Park is less than a mile away from campus and offers tons of outdoor activities. There are all sorts of things to do there: Frisbee golf, a huge walking trail, basketball courts, and soccer and baseball fields.

  • Buy spring clothes – one of my favorite ways to celebrate warm weather is to buy new spring and summer clothes. So, celebrate the rising temperatures! Go buy that cute tank top or pair of shorts or sandals to get you in the mood for warm weather.

  • Don’t forget your umbrella – it’s true, April showers do bring May flowers. Don’t forget to stash an umbrella in your car or in your backpack because you never know when you might get caught in an April shower (and you don’t want to ruin your new spring clothes.)

  • Smell the flowers – last but certainly not least, seriously go take some time to smell the flowers. This point in the semester is the absolute worst. Everyone’s stressing, scheduling and studying and ready for it to end. So make some time in your hectic day to go out and enjoy natures natural stress reliever!

I'm Nicole! Nikki, Nic, anything you want to call me really. I'm from south-eastern Pennsylvania and I love life and beauty. Whenever I'm not writing or taking pictures for my blogs or social media accounts, you can find me (hopefully) at the beach surfing, traveling, making new friends and seeing new places. I'm in love with people I've never met and places I've never been to. I am currently a Senior (!!!) at Shippensburg University, majoring in Communications Journalism (focusing in Public Relations) and minoring in Psychology. I would love to work for a PR firm with advertising, event planning and perhaps a chance to travel. Thanks for reading!! - Nicole
