HC: Why did you choose to come to Ship?
SM: I applied to so many schools my senior year, much of which were much too expensive. However, from the very moment I stepped foot on campus, I fell in love with the atmosphere at Ship. I knew that it was going to be the perfect match for me and I immediately felt comfortable walking onto campus. Shippensburg quickly became my second home.
HC: Can you tell me how/why you decided to run for Homecoming Court?
SM: A few of my friends had been telling me to do so since the year before, and as soon as I saw that the charity was the MS Society of PA, I signed up right away. I have a huge amount of pride in this institution and I thought that running for Homecoming Queen would be a very fun experience and a unique way to give back to campus.

HC: You raised a very impressive amount of money for the charity this year. Was the MS Society of PA an important cause for you?
SM: My grandmother, Carol, was diagnosed with MS almost 23 years ago. All of my life, I have watched this autoimmune disease cause great struggles and hardship for my grandmother. She struggles to complete even the simplest tasks that we so often take for granted such as dressing herself, going up and down the stairs, and even having the ability to chew and swallow food. I was extremely passionate about this cause and had a strong army of supporters helping me out during fundraising.
