With the increasing use of tablet computers in the classroom, there is no wonder that students are now embracing the innovative applications that are easily accessible through the App store. Here are six Apps that college students will love to get them through the spring semester:
1. Pages
Pages is one of the best word processor application available in App Store. It was designed by Apple exclusively for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices. This app allows you to write your important documents, create newsletters, design charts and tables, and load images to your presentation. Unfortunately, this app is not free. However, the $9.99 spent will definitely be used wisely as you navigate through some of the amazing features this app has to offer.
2. InClass
The InClass app is my personal favorite. Like most college students, I’m broke and too cheap to buy some of the recommended apps. Before the spring semester, I searched the App store for free applications that could help in organizing and keeping track of my daily homework. InClass definitely delivers in both accounts. It keeps track of my courses by remembering when assignments are due as well as the location and time of the lecture. There are also cool features that allow you to do iTunes File sharing and background record. It is like your very own digitally personal day planner.
3. Pandora
If you’re like me, you will most likely need a little boost of energy to get you start a project or assignment. Much like caffeine, music can get the blood pumping for a college student. Pandora is a free internet radio that is personalized for your musical taste and pleasure. All you have to do is choose your favorite artist or song then the site builds a station around those suggestions. This little app is the redemption of radio.
4. SketchBook Pro
I’m no artist but I’ve heard rave reviews for the SketchBook Pro. This app is a professional-grade paint and drawing tool that allows art lovers to edit photographs as well as design original handmade artwork.
5. Netflix
Many college students rarely have time to catch a television show or movie when it actually premieres. With a subscription to Netflix, the problem is fixed with an instant stream of thousands of movies and TV shows at your fingertips. There’s nothing like missing an episode of True Blood because you don’t have a TV in your dorm room to get you to make the switch to Netflix.
6. Blackboard
Whether you love or hate using it, Blackboard has become a powerful learning tool on most college campuses. Some professors will only update and contact students through it. For one of my classes, my exams are all required to be taken online via Blackboard. So for exam days instead of meeting in our normal classroom, we can stay home and take the exam in our pajamas. Therefore, it is beneficial to keep this app handy on your tablet. You never know when you’re stuck somewhere and need access to the Blackboard.
