Last Sunday, nerds and mainstream culture enthusiasts gathered around their televisions to watch the fifth season of Game of Thrones premiere. I can’t believe it’s been five years since the series started, but more than anything, I can’t believe I made it so long with the show on hiatus. Luckily, the first episode reminded us viewers just how much we’d missed the show, and why.
1. The absolutely deliberate pronunciation of every single syllable by the spectacular Peter Dinklage. It’s a phenomenon similar to Alan Rickman as Severus Snape’s speech patterns.
2. Lena Headey’s truly impeccable smirk.
3. Finally seeing Sansa Stark on the screen after what seems like years… Or, you know, almost a year.
4. Does Margaery Tyrell literally know everything? Because her facial expressions lead me to believe that she just might…
5. “Who said anything about ‘him’?”
6. Emilia Clarke widening her eyes and looking into the camera like, “can you believe this sh*t? Westeros had better be worth everything I put up with.”
7. Seeing the dragons, even if it had to be under that condition.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings the citizens of Westeros!
