Ready or not, here she comes: Bridgit Mendler’s inspiring career

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

You may know Bridgit Mendler from the hit Disney Channel show Good Luck Charlie or maybe from her iconic music career (which has recently had a resurgence in popularity on TikTok).

But Bridgit did not stop there. In addition to a prolific acting and singing career, Bridgit also has an impressive educational background. She went to the University of Southern California, got a master’s degree and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went to Harvard Law School (1).

When I heard about everything that Bridgit was doing, I was so impressed and inspired. I feel like I grew up with Bridgit, so seeing her have all this success makes me so proud as if she’s my childhood friend. Good Luck Charlie was my favorite TV show when I was younger. It is still one of my favorite shows to this day. I also still listen to Bridgit’s music quite often. Her first album, Hello My Name Is… is one of my favorite albums. There are absolutely no skips. She is so incredibly talented at everything she does, and she is one of my biggest inspirations.

Bridgit is like a real-life Barbie. Actress, singer, lawyer – she has done it all. Just when I thought she couldn’t get any more amazing, she added CEO to the list. She announced on X this month that she has started a new satellite data company called Northwood Space. The company will mass-produce antennas that connect to satellites in space (2).

In addition to her business success, Bridgit also announced on X that she is a mother to a 4-year-old boy. She and her husband started fostering him in 2021 and adopted him in 2022. In her tweet, she said, “I’m so lucky – being a parent is the biggest gift and most defining experience there is” (3).

Bridgit Mendler is living proof that you can do anything you set your mind to, and it is never too late to pursue your dreams. You do not have to be confined to one thing. Everyone has so many talents that are just waiting to be developed and dreams that are waiting to be pursued. It’s never too late to try something new, change your path or pursue a new passion. 1. https://www.linkedin.com/in/bridgit-mendler/ 2. https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20240222-former-disney-star-bridgit-mendler-launches-a-space-startup 3. https://www.today.com/popculture/bridgit-mendler-space-ceo-mom-rcna139535
