After seven long weeks of winter break you are finally back to school. Sitting in a classroom feels so strange and unfamiliar, almost like you’ve never done it before. The switch from home cooked meals to dining hall food is rough, let’s be honest. Here are seven tips and tricks to get you feeling like the star student you are.
Don’t Procrastinate
Trying not to procrastinate is the first step to getting back into the swing of school after a long break. Buy textbooks, new notebooks, pens and folders as soon as you get back from your first or second day of class. Procrastination will definitely set you back a few days when you want to be moving forward.
Create a Schedule
Aside from printing out your class schedule, room numbers, and syllabi, creating a set routine for yourself is a good way to keep moving. Getting back into a schedule seems to be the hardest thing for most people to do, I mean who likes waking up early again for classes? Once you have a set routine, everything else will fall into place.
Organize yourself
Getting your calendar and planner organized is key to a successful semester. After getting all your class syllabi, putting the test and homework dates on your schedule is a great way to prepare yourself for the new semester. Remember, organization is essential.
Stick to those New Years resolutions
Don’t let being back at school stop you from sticking to your fitness New Years resolution. Incorporate the gym into your daily schedule, even if you only have an hour or two between classes. Starting the new semester off by going to the gym will help motivate you to keep going throughout the remainder of the year.
Turn on those alarms
Whether you need one alarm or seven to wake up, alarms are essential when getting to class on time. Setting alarms at least an hour before morning class gives you enough time to shower, pick out a cute outfit, grab lots coffee and be on your way to class, no rushing here!
Breakfast
The most important meal of the day is another pathway to success. If you are feeling up to it, breakfast in DeNaples will always make you feel ready for the day. If you are a more grab-n-go person, a granola bar or a yogurt can help fill you for your first morning class.
SLEEP
Last but not least is everyone’s favorite activity: sleep. Sleep is a necessity to having a great day. If you’re like me and need at least eight hours to be a functioning person, make sure you get to bed early. If you’re not like me and can work on little to no sleep, it is still important to make sure you rest up. Sleep makes you feel great in the morning and helps you last throughout the day. Taking care of your mind and body helps you to be successful.
Stay focused and have a great semester! :)
