Be still my beating heart, because Betsey Johnson’s partnership with Urban Outfitters is the best thing I’ve seen all week. My love for all things Betsey began in middle school, when I received a black and pink quilted Betsey Johnson handbag for Christmas one year. I carried that bag so much you would have thought it was a Birkin. Although my style has changed significantly since then, I’ve still kept a soft spot in my heart for good, ‘ole Queen B. This all came full circle my freshman year at SCAD when Betsey Johnson was interviewed by Fern Mallis during SCAD Style Week 2013, and Betsey gave an inspiring account of her life and career. I hung around afterwards, and was fortunate enough to meet her, and get her feedback on one of my designs! To say I left the auditorium on cloud nine would be a vast understatement.

The Betsey Johnson Vintage for Urban Outfitters is everything I love about the two brands amalgamated into one swoon-worthy collection. The grungy, romanticized floral prints paired with flowing silhouettes make me think of rocker-chic night gowns, in the best possible way. The stand-out piece for me, however, is the Becca Strapless Tulle Dress. Someone find me a time machine, so I can go back in time and wear this dress to my high school prom! What’s great about all of these pieces are their versatility; each one can easily transition from day tonight. Picture the Alice Flutter Midi Dress with a crisp blazer and leather brogues for work, and with strappy wedges and statement jewelry for a date or gallery opening.

Needless to say, I know where my next paycheck is going…
