Campus Cutie: Brian Edwards

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD chapter.

Name: Brian Edwards

Major: Fashion Marketing & Management

Hometown: Marietta, GA

Zodiac: Capricorn

Her Campus: Describe yourself in three words/phrases.

Brian: Cool, funny and nice.

HC: What made you decide to come to SCAD?

Brian: I didn’t want a regular career. I wanted something fun and excited, and SCAD offered that in a fine arts degree.

HC: What has been the most rewarding or exciting part about being a SCAD student?

Brian: My friends! I’ve met some wonderful people here. I even think I found the girl I’m going to marry!

HC: Woah, that’s exciting! So does that mean you’re single or spoken for?

Brian: I’m in between jobs right now? I mean, I guess you can say I’m spoken for.

HC: What’s something you generally notice first about a girl?

Brian: Her hair.

HC: And what does it take for someone to keep you interested?

Brian: A sense of humor.

HC: So what’s something you like to do for fun around town? Describe an ideal date.

Brian: I like to go to different restaurants and experience the wide variety of foods that Savannah has to offer.

HC: Where is the best place you’ve eaten so far?

Brian: Bohemian!

HC: Your favorite food?

Brian: Fried chicken… and watermelon… with some grape soda.

HC: What do you see yourself doing after graduating from SCAD?

Brian: I really want to intern for An Le. He’s a SCAD photography graduate with a lot of experience that I really admire. After that I’d love to design or photograph for McQueen. That’s my dream company.

HC: As a fashion marketing student, who is someone in your field or the general industry that you admire?

Brian: Alexander McQueen. He’s the best thing that ever happened to fashion. He was fearless, believed in the empowerment of women (as I do), and a true visionary who stepped outside of the box. I really like the fact that you can basically look at his work and just know it’s his.

HC: Would you describe your actions as more spontaneous or premeditated?

Brian: Definitely spontaneous.

HC: Outgoing or more reserved?

Brian: It really depends on who I’m around.

HC: A talker or a thinker?

Brian: Again, that’s situational. Around friends I’m a big talker. Around strangers I tend to observe a lot more.

HC: Where can people generally find you on campus?

Brian: *laughs* In my room. I never leave.

My name is Tenisha, and I’m a junior Fashion Marketing student at the Savannah College of Art & Design. I am so excited to be a HerCampus writer this year! I am new to the team, and will be writing Campus Cuties articles in the coming months. Some of my interests include sports, music, traveling, and fashion of course. I was an athlete in high school, and I love to participate in different intramural sports whenever those times come around. I sing, so I love all types of music. Neo-Soul, jazz and rhythm and blues are my favorites, and concerts actually account for a lot of the traveling that I do these days. I’d say growing up in a military family gave me a love for that. And last but definitely not least, there’s fashion. If I had to describe my style with one word, honestly, I don’t think I could do it — I think that’s the beauty of fashion and style. It’s all a form of self-expression on the outside that gives people a small taste of who you are, or even what you’re feeling on the inside. My biggest fashion inspiration is Solange Knowles. She has impeccable taste, great music, and not to mention an amazing big sister who happens to be my favorite artist (hello, Beyoncé)! Like Solange, I love bold prints, bright colors, and pieces that are simply unique & eccentric. I just like to have fun with it! I have a fashion and lifestyle blog, Establish the New Black, where I document my personal style, inspiration, and some daily happenings pertaining to the world of fashion. I am truly excited to build on my writing and journalism skills through this internship. This is going to be a great semester, and I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
