As a student, nonetheless a SCAD student, funds can get a little tight at times. Let’s face it, I know we all could always use some extra cash in our pockets. Because of our busy schedules I know its not necessarily possible for all of us to get a job on a whim and that can be a struggle for some of us wanting to make money but not having enough time to work. So I thought I’d give you guys a couple options on how to make money with flexibility on your side!

Etsy

Etsy is basically a platform that allows you to sell handmade items across the spectrum. Speaking from personal experience, I love Etsy. It provides a creative outlet for me to sell the things I love to create and who doesn’t love to make money doing the things they love to do. Seeing that we are all art students, on a creative path, I think Etsy should definitely be high on your list!

Poshmark

With Poshmark, you practically don’t have to any work besides taking a picture. Poshmark allows one to sell their old clothes for reasonable prices. If you find that you have a lot of old clothes that you don’t wear anymore, Poshmark is the perfect option for you!  Now I have tried Poshmark before and I did end up selling a few things. I wasn’t really consistent, but if you put in the effort and gain a lot of followers, you could be selling like that.

Blogging

Out of all the options, I will say blogging requires the most work. People create blogs all the time, and at one point in time, I did myself. But the difference is, I never monetized my blog. In today’s day and age people are making full time incomes from their blogs alone. It has a relatively cheap startup cost, so if you don’t mind writing, find a topic/genre that you are passionate about and go for it.

The results won’t be immediate, but if you keep at it and put in the necessary time and research, I’m sure the results will follow!

Hello, my name is Genevieve Odukomaiya and I'm a fashion design major here at SCAD with a minor in business entrepreneurship. I'm from Tampa, Florida and being a naturally introverted person, I'm glad that I have a platform like Her campus to voice my opinions, thoughts, and ideas!
High-spirited fashion designer with sound knowledge about the management and promotional aspects of the industry. My inquisitive nature enables me to discover efficient ways of streamlining marketing approaches to reach target audience. The process of translating various topics into a collection of garments after intensive research and visual development, makes me feel empowered because it is a unique medium of self-expression. However, I am fully aware of the importance of marketing a product in order to gain the best results which makes me equally passionate about both the aspects of Fashion World
